glasses frames Looking good?

When choosing your glasses frames yes – they must be functional, but just as importantly, they must be fabulous! Your spectacles are with you everyday, and may be the first thing someone notices about you. How do you want to appear –  quirky? Sophisticated? Glamorous? The right frame can not only indulge this, but enhance your appearance as well! Never forget that frames are fashion, but like a coat or a sturdy shoe, they will help you on your way!
However, choosing the right frame can be a mammoth task. Small or Large? Square or Round? What colour? What make? LINDBERG? Coco Song? Woow? Tag Heuer? The possibilities are endless… But never fear, the most flattering solution often lies upon your face. Here are the Spectacle Shop in Barnsley top tips for knowing your glasses frames style.

1 – Know your tone…

Your skin tone is often heralded as the secret to style success, and will affect not just how your glasses frames look, but your make up and clothes as well! So before you do anything, pin down which skin tone you are!
A quick and simple test is to check the veins in your wrists. If they appear to have a greenish tinge, you have a warm tone. If they appear blue, your skin is a cool tone. Alternatively, place a piece of white paper next to your face. Look in the mirror and decide whether the skin appears more yellow (warm tones) or pink (cool tones).
Cool tones are complimented by pastel colours and silvers, and should generally avoid heavy frames – particularly black. If you do fancy heavier, bolder glasses frames though, a tortoiseshell is a happy medium.
Warm tones are complimented by colours with yellow tones in them, and are more likely to suit colourful glasses frames than a person with a cool skin tone. However, avoid glasses frames with blue undertones, as these may make you appear washed out!

2 – Are you square?

Face shape is often a great way of quickly short-listing what type of glasses frames are right for you; but simply put, contrast is the key! if you have a round face, a square frame will likely be more flattering than a round frame, as it balances out your look. If your face is square, vice versa! To detract from a long face, choose a frame with decorative sides, drawing attention to the temples.

3 – Be more you!

When choosing your glasses frames, be confident in your choice. However fashionable or highly rated a frame may be, this is irrelevant if its not to your taste! Your glasses frames must be something you want to wear, as the majority of people will be advised to wear their glasses everyday. Consider not only what style of frame you fancy, but what colours make up the majority of your wardrobe, so you can find the frame that’s made for you!
